configure telecom blackberry with customer's sbs2008 server

just configure following the wizard just fine. however with one of the the blackberrys, the wizard complained that an email address is already configured, and the user forgot the username/password, called telecom about this problem, waited 30 minutes, no luck.

looked at the email settings after the wizard, the email address is actually an owa address, funny bis only pass email, not contacts/calendars. this should be much easier without a BES server.

a note on Centos, Fedora Core, and Red Hat from a 3rd' party

I had a chance to revive a user's RH 3 server box. But the hard drives are worn. So a new box has to be provisioned. in the process the linux apps guy commented Fedora is good for development, centos is good for production if you don't want to buy RH. at which time a disruption at centos erupted, and caused a shock in the linux community, you can still view the open letter at http://www.centos.org/

personal anti-virus and MalwareByte's anti-spyware & AVG FE

a personal anti-virus fake Av program found on a client's win-xp home pc. pav.exe, uac*.dll uac*.sys files found on the infected PC. boot from a bootable pc, delete those dlls and the sys. install malwarebyte's AS by renaming it as something else. run malware scan again and again, also update windows. finally the trojan disappeared. in the process, AVG did stop two dll running.

marketscore.relevantknowdge, malwarebyte's anti & super-antispyware

after a shocking discover of the marketscore in the W7 PC a while ago, I run MalwareByte's program today. But the malwarebyte's program crashed in the middle and reported marketscore found.; run again the same problem. But SuperAntiSpyware didn't find anything suspious.

move virtualized centos 5.3

a XenServer-virtualized centos 5.3 was ported into another Xen Server 5.0. however the network is not working properly. it has a similar probelm to a virtualized windows like an ip address is used by another nic.
the workaround is to delete all the nics, and re-created a new nic.

install SBS 2008 in advanced mode

yeah, install SBS 2008 in default mode ending up a domain like mydome.local.

to get an mydome.com, install sbs 2008 in advanced mode. that involves using a utility s/w to create an answer file. then stick the USB pen drive into the server, and boot from SBS 2008 DVD.

alas. sbs 2008 is like a mine field.
