Outlook anywhere - struggling with it

Outlook anywhere. SBS 2008 with SP1 does everything for you using wizards. When I checked the settings, SSL is self issued, located in a public directory ready to distribute.  rpc-over-https is auto installed as well as a feature? client access server is also auto-enabled for outlook anywhere.

however, it hard to get it working. after a long google search http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800501743/tm.htm

yeah, connect outlook 2007 locally like using ras, then connect remotely seemed fine. I wonder this somehow related to the UPN.

BTW, its bit tricky to hack the W7 hosts file for testing when the public dns not in place yet.

PPTP VPN access to SBS 2008

well, the trick is to put the ras user in the securtiy group like sbs vpn users.

Lenovo PC rebooting problem

a user's PC reboots in a bizzare way. updated bios/drivers, patched XP, no luck.
the user said that happened only when the CD-ROM was involved.
an external DVD/RW is installed to see if that helps.

virtualize Windows 2003 & Exchange 2003

move a client online by virtualize their Windows 2003 domain & exchange 2003 server.

use shadow protect to take images, then restore the XenServer 5.0

its a bit slow. XenCentre was sluggish before Xentools installed.

after xentools installed, there was a complaint about the same IP address assigned a previous nic. This lead to manually removing the previous nic reference.

the physical platform is an IBM x3250.

Exmerge and exchange 2003

exmerge would dump pst files on c: drive, if a network share is not available.

Emerge doesn't like network drive letter. please use UNC path instead.

Dell dual xeon R410

Dell dual xeon R410 entered the market cheaper than rivals IBM and HP.
the rack-mount kit is quite easy to clip onto the rack. It seems easier than IBM.
the delivery package is a little bit bigger than IBM's. It came from Malay after 9 days of online order.

It can support 4 SATA hard drives. I would say its a very promising product so far.

SBS 2008 on Xen Server 5.0.0 update 3

yeah, Xenserver 5.5 is better. but for other reasons have to stick to version 5.0.0.

SBS 2008 is x64 with the normal windows server stuff, plus exchange 2007. The live and forefront are trial (what a bait). wsus and sharepoint 3.0 included with sql 2005 express?

C: drive must be 60GB.
It doesn't like more than 1 NIC.

When xentools installed, it may be necessary to delete the previous non-present realtek nic

Fix-my-network wizard is quite useful when things tungled up.

It is said always to use wizards in SBS 2008.

upgrade W7 RC x86 to W7 RTM

need at least 16GB free space on C: drive. also need to do a trick editing ini file to get the upgrade running. otherwise it will refuse to run citing version not upgradable.
