HP printer driver problem with a third party access database

nullwhen Tash run the reports in the access database application. sometimes it works. sometimes, it just crashes out, sending report to MS. MS feedback page said access 97 runtime is a problem, but not supported anymore.

this is a windows XP machine with office professional 2007 loaded. access 2007 works fine with all the updates...

I called application vendor support in despair....
surprisingly, I am sent an email anout what to do. it is their program got problem with certain types of HP printers....
.... phew ...... their tech paper refers to some deskjet models...

but this is a HP laserjet 1320 PCl 6 driver, what I can do ??..... anyway I installed HP universal 5.1 PCL5e driver for this model...
it appeared to be fine...

Two tricky problems for the day. One got hdd lights and power light flashing, no post on the screen, old power supply appeared to be working, but its not, replace power supply, ok.
Another one, windows xp on an AMD 2.4G, the machine sometimes reboot intermittently. Checked for spyware, checked for virus, patched xp against blaster virus. Hijackthis cwshredder, hbo hijacker, adaware6 check, all clean. co-worker did it right, used memtest86 to test it, there are heaps memory errors.

Insert the original Windows Server 2008 installation DVD.


Reset the computer, boot from DVD.

Choose option "Repair your computer".

Start command prompt.

CD C:\Windows\System32

MOVE Utilman.exe Utilman.exe.bak

COPY Cmd.exe Utilman.exe

Restart windows

At the login screen, type Windows-U, this fires up cmd.exe now

NET USER administrator

Presto! Login as administrator!

Now repair computer again and move the original Utilman.exe back.

There are a bunch of commercial tools to reset the administrator password, but there is no need for it! Furthermore most of them seem to reset just the local administrator account's password, rather than the domain administrator password.

problems encountered:
the nb keeps connecting to the old one, restart nb, disable/enable nic seemed to be able to switch to the new one.  there is special instruction in the repeater manual on how to force it to the new one. in short it needs 3rd party in the notebook to handle it. I wonder what will happen when I install a wireless printer upstairs.

at times, my nb seems connect to the new one stably, but initially not getting an ip address. I can manually specify an ip address, then boom, its all fine. next bootup it will get one ip from the dhcp server.

now, I need get the customer's notebook working with the new repeater.
