unexpected error refreshing server manager 2008 r2

unexpected error refreshing server manager 2008 r2

my day is like hell....

just installed a 2008 R2, did a first few update then the whole thing come to a standstill

local telecom call / fax diversion how to

local telecom call / fax diversion how to

I just copy and paste from local telecom user guide

so the steps are

1/ before I cut the wire,

dial 181 161 the number to divert to, or foward to , telecom call it divert

2/  dial 161 to activate

3/ dial 160 to cancel

4/ you must be at the premise to do that

5/ if not, you have to use remote divert, that mean you pay more

6/ I diverted serval numbers, I can;t seem to hear the confirmation tone as in the telecom guide.

7/ for the first phone number, a fax machine (not a tradional phone), ricoh MFC (hasn't got a handset), I paunched the sequence, it actually worked, it bit tricky to test, as incoming phone calls still showing up on the dash board (?). eventually I connected a traditional phone set to that line, yes, it was correctly diverted

8/ after diversion, you can still make out-going phone calls, but the dial-tone changed to one-long and one-short

Setting up Call Diversion
To programme each number you want your calls diverted

to:

Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone

Dial 181, followed by a code number between 161

and 169

Dial the number to which calls are to be diverted,

including area code if the number is outside your local

calling area (eg. 181 - 163 - 04 - 801 9000), then

press the # key

Wait for the confirmation tone (Dial Tone)

Hang up

(The code number is now registered against the number

to be diverted to. We recommend you keep a record of

these for future reference.)

Activating a Diversion

(from your own phone)

Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone

Dial the appropriate code (i.e. 161, 162 etc) for the

number you wish to divert to

Wait for confirmation tone

To confirm the correct diversion has been made wait

a little longer and a call will automatically go through

to the selected diversion number

Hang up

Cancelling Call Diversion
Lift the handset and wait for confirmation tone

Dial 160

Wait for confirmation tone

Hang up

You can still make outgoing calls from your phone when

Call Divert is in use, but the dial tone is different (longshort-

long). This reminds you that incoming calls are still

being diverted.

Using Remote Divert Lift the handset

restore shadow protect images to Xen 6.0.2 server

restore shadow protect images to Xen 6.0.2 server, stick the USB disc straight to Xen

i should lesten to T-manager's work, I should stick the USB drive (with the images) to the Xen server directly.

bad habit resisting changing

restoring shadow protect image from a network share, the speed is about 6.78Mps over a 100Mbit link.

this used to be 3.3Mps with Xen 5.x

eventually , I plug in the USB drive directly to the Xen server . making it available by attaching it.

whoola, the speed is 18Mps, great, its about 3 times faster,

this combined with head-start restore makes things easier...

Configuring and Managing the Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 Library

Configuring and Managing the Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 Library
    1. What is the VMM library, and what kind of resources can you index in it?
Answer: The VMM library is a catalog that gives access to file-based resources (such as Sysprep scripts, ISO images, and virtual hard disks) that are stored on your library servers and to virtual machine templates, as well as to guest operating system and hardware profiles that reside in the VMM database
    2. Why do you create hardware profiles?
Answer: You use hardware profiles to have a consistent hardware configuration when creating new virtual machines and to speed up a virtual machine's deployment process
    3. What is the guest operating system profile? What kind of information does it contain?
Answer: A guest operating system profile is a collection of operating system settings that you can import into a virtual machine template to provide a consistent operating system configuration for virtual machines created from that template. It contains key information, such as computer name, administrator password, product key, and other data.
    4. How should you add a clustered file server as a library server to VMM?
Answer: To add a clustered file server as a library server, you have to use the Client Access Point name that you defined during the cluster's creation.

Course 10215A: Implementing and Managing Microsoft® Server Virtualization

Course 10215A: Implementing and Managing Microsoft® Server Virtualization
Creating and Deploying Virtual Machines Using Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2

    Review questions

    1. In which scenarios is it beneficial to deploy using the virtual machine template?
Answer: If you want to deploy multiple virtual machines with the same settings, but with different identities, you can you deploy using the virtual machine template.
    2. In which scenarios should you not perform P2V conversion?
Answer: You should not perform P2V if you have operating systems that do not support P2V conversion. Also, highly utilized databases, and application and mail servers, typically are not good virtualization candidates.
    3. Which methods can you use to perform a V2V conversion?
Answer: You can make a conversion directly from the ESX host. You can also perform a conversion from the library and from the file share location.
    4. What is the main difference between Live Migration and Quick Storage Migration?
Answer: In Quick Storage Migration, the virtual machine changes the storage location but not necessarily the host on which it was running.
    5. How do you clone a virtual machine?
Answer: You can clone a virtual machine from the SCVMM Admin Console. However, you must stop the machine. Additionally, the cloned machine should not run at the same time and on the same network as the original machine.

before I goto bed, It occurred to me I need mention TZ 215

sonicwall , yeah Dell now, TZ 215 has a GEO IP feature, that can block an entire country IP, which is cool.

but that feature is not present in tz100, tz210, or tz200 even if I updated firmware

SSL aggregated ... install public cert on Exchange 2010 server

SSL aggregated ... install public cert on Exchange 2010 server

eventually a decision is made as to integrated exchange 2010 with autotask

this can't be self signed anymore,

to get a public one, in exchange 2010, in EMC , generate a CSR file,

then choose where to buy from public CA, we use comodo and rapidssl,

for web ssl only about $18.00 for one year.

then goto rapidssl website to purchase the cert,

make sure you get the right one,

I only use one name for exchange ssl, i.e

    mail.myboomer.com

so it is the IIS cert I am purchasing

once get the cert in the email, save as CER, and in EMC, complete the cert installation

run cert install test as provided by rapidssl

then assign exchange services using the cert, I cliked on IIS.

the trick is all about SAN or wild card or single name cert you want.

recover data from a vista hard drive; getdataback and easeus compared

recover data from a vista hard drive

a hp compaq c700 wont start, it keeps asking to do the repair on start-up

I boot the PC from shadow protect cd, I can't cd to the C: drive ; I/O error
run CMOS test tool: faulty hard drive reported

    I tried two software packages:
    getdataback
    easeus

pull the problem hard drive out, and put it in a USB enclosure ,  then plug it to my technician's notebook,

run getdataback against the faulty hard drive, after some effort, it can see the drive, and run the scan, it re-constructed the corrupted filesystem over bad clusters, in the trial version , only filenames are displayed, can't do copy

download the trial version of easus, it can recover upto 1Gb in this version, I ran it for about 90 minutes. it is still running, no encoraging signs in sight. I abort my effort using easus.

I have the impression that getdataback have better results in my case, the recovery process is slow, patience is virtual. it's all about retrieving data in bad cluster, re-construction
