then user's outlook 2003 cannot connect, but their phones can ...

eventually I did another round of updating, then ... boom,.,, everyone is happy coz they are getting emails in outlook

I like to update BIOS, because it is thrilling

this time, it become horric

the current bios version is v1.10

the one was on the PC v1.06

after the bios upgrade , a restart ensued,

my hair stood up as I watched the PC restarted it itself in a circle . it was showing start windows (w7 w/sp1), then restart. after disabling auto-restart, I can see it got a blue screen of 0x00000007b (xxx...)

well, a mass storage error?

I am at my wits end, I accessed the PC bios, in SATA mode change IDE to AHCI

start the PC again, after a short pause , windows 7 is all good .

oh dear , the last time I had a bios upgrade failure was more than a decade ago, when a floppy drive stopped working... in the middle of updating process

she said she had last Thursday's backup.

instead of getting the file back from backup, I restored from its previous version tab.

right click on the file, select previous version, yeah, it's listed also from last Thursday, save as another file,

the new version is x64 bit, only runs on windows 2008.

I know it wont run on a DC

so I installed it on a windows 2008 R2 server .

its straight forward if your server is a fresh one.

in my case, it failed at the first attempt. so I have to uninstall sql 2008 express which loaded with sharepoint 2010 the year before.

after uninstall everything apps on the 2008 R2 server, I installed the new DIrSYNC , boom..... my play domain users are synced to my Office 365 trial domain (the new version, that is everything is 2013)

next .... need do some adfs ... well... need find a free cert first?

AD Site ... un-tick "protect ,,,"
