recover exchange 2010 in SBS 2011 another time

recover exchange 2010 in SBS 2011 another time

before the mainboard/cpu/memory got replaced , the server crashed another big time

replace the mainboard, I am told by Edmond the raid info is stored in the hard drives.

upon the first startup, the system rebooted itself, ie, after the bios post, before the SBS 2011 GUI showing up, the system rebooted. my blood vessel nearly burst, this is someone's biggest customer.

upon the reboot, the GUI appeared , sigh..... of relief, started scan disk, lost cluster found, files trimmed

eventually it loaded itself, detected new h/w. loaded some driver. install intel info driver, much better

sadly the exchange info store failed to load

with heaps error in the log.

well, someone has to do it

eseutl /mh showed log files

eseutl /ml showed show some log files broken

tried

eseutl /r

eventualy done this one eseutl /p

it says it successfully repaired the store

happily did eseutl /d

by the end of the day, the store is mounted, the mail started to flow

but isiteg is another story

1. Servers Are Moving Online

Cloud apps are also replacing common server types. Email servers are disappearing thanks to cloud suites Microsoft Office 365 and Google Apps. File servers are being replaced by Dropbox, Box and other cloud storage services.

recover exchange in a SBS 2011 server

recover exchange in a SBS 2011 server

- the server shutdown itself due to an unknown problem

- when it re-started, the exchange database won't mount

- tried to manually mount it - I got error

logs not commit to the database , do you want to continue

I tried eseutil /mh

it showed dirty-shutdown

but I couldn't find the file, that not played into the database

- so loss is inetvitable

- in EMC, mount the db any way

- but it still showing as dismounted
- this time eseutil /mh showed clean shutdown ---

- there are a flurry of error in the log

- move logs files out of the original folder to another folder liked copied-logs

-  I have to stop infomation store service to move all

- then mount again

- yeah its mounted

diagnose a HP notebook --- one of those dark sundays

diagnose a HP notebook --- one of those dark sundays ( haven't I recommended HP note book before?)

the HP notebook running w8, it will freeze in 2~5 minutes in safe mode.

I managed to run malwarebytes in nornaml mode , it will run, but it will freeze after its run

I can boot to safe mode, it seemed fine.DISK error logged in the eventlog, disk error -- something like cannot read / write to a certain location.

eventually ,  I run the diagnose program inside BIOS,

the quick test stopped in the middle of its supposed 15 minutes test. the hard drive failed short DST test.

time to claim warranty from the vendor.

finally removed snap.do - in chrome preferences

finally removed snap.do - in chrome preferences

- snap.do was showing up in malwarebytes's can  in chrome prefenreces, but it can't kill it

I started another round of scan

boot to safe mode in windows 8 .... working on my relatives notebook -- its a mission

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

With the Windows Startup Settings screen (formerly advanced boot options) you can start Windows in different advanced troubleshooting modes so you can find and fix problems on your PC. In previous versions of Windows, you could get to this screen by pressing F8 before Windows started up. Windows 8 PCs start up quickly so there's not enough time to press F8.
There are two ways to get to the Windows Startup Settings screen in Windows 8 :
  • If you're not signed in to Windows, tap or click the power icon Power icon from the sign-in screen, hold Shift, and then tap or click Restart
  • Or, if you're already signed in:
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
    2. Under PC settings, tap or click General.
    3. Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.
    4. On the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot.
    5. Tap or click Startup Settings.
    6. Tap or click Restart.
    7. On the Startup Settings screen, choose the startup setting you want.
    8. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights.
Some options, such as safe mode, start Windows in a limited state where only essential programs are started. Other options start Windows with advanced features (typically used by system admins
