recover data from a USB drive - recuva

suddenly, I cant read a USB drive

windows wanted to format it.

No, I like to recover data from it

tried

testdisk / photorec -- it recovered files like mk001.xxx

recuva free version can recover documents , not the full content, the pro version of recuva can do it

another one is reclaiMe , the free version can show the files it can recover, need pay to recover anything,

try getdataback this time, it can recover files like mk002.xxx , not the file structure

SBS 2008 server recovery --- LAST known good configuration saved the day

SBS 2008 server recovery --- LAST known good configuration saved the say

the SBS 2008 runs as a VM inside a Xen 5.0.3 host ( maybe 5.0.1)

I removed panda Av last friday and did a restart

then I installed a new AV - bitdefender

in the process the server crashed.

it crashed to a blue screen, got a xen driver error

I can  still log in to safe mode..

eventually managed press F6 , then F8 to start last known configuration  -
