administering Office 365 70-323 , what a stomach full of microsoft sharepoint online

tried to learn myself some new skills .... not that sweet since I have to force myself to learn other guys technology.

the current version of Office 365 is wave 15 , exchange 2013, sharepoint 2013, and lync 2013

however the exam itself is focused on wave 14, ie, exchange 2010, sharepoint 2010, and lync 2010

i think MS's plan is to push out a new one in May 2014

study books: cbt nugget; MS free ebook, MS MVA various internet sources

hands on experience: Office 365 migration

anyway, here is my brain dump

55 question in 150 minutes,
70% to pass
drop & drop, hot spot.

the main thing for me is the sharepoint, I am reasonably fimilar with sharepoint 3.  When I looked at Sharepoint 2010 /2013, I am shocked by the vastness of those sharepoints 2010 , 2013. they become so complicated, new terms never heard of until I watched the videos / books
to get youself pass this one, you need be good at sharepoint as 1/3 of questions are sharepoint

to my disappointment, exchange + lync questions only 1/3 ; be sure you know the lync ports. if you have done Exchange P1 plan, exchange 2010 questions are not hard. be good at hub-transport rules

office 365 admin questions another 1/3, make sure you know the admin roles like Global administrator, password administrator, funny thing is bill admin can also monitor service health.

all I can see is Microsoft is pushing hard with their SharePoint

here is the full desc from MS website

MS sharepoint online: cannot add myself as term store administrator

MS sharepoint online: cannot add myself as term store administrator

I got error like , error add user

so I logged a ticket with MS online support

eventually found out the username need be selected twice, very vague, when I entered the user email address, need click again, then down the right-hand bottom of the screen, I see another selection screen pop-up, select Mike X [tenant],

things are weird when it is all online

here is the troubleshooting log

3:01 p.m. Connecting...
3:01 p.m. Connected. A support representative will be with you shortly.
3:01 p.m. Support session established with Jack Soft.
3:02 p.m. MikeX: Hello Jack Soft, how are you?
3:02 p.m. Remote Control started by Jack Soft.

3:02 p.m. Jack Soft: Yeah
3:03 p.m. MikeX: this is our company GoldMine's account
3:04 p.m. Jack Soft: Ok, let's go to term store
3:04 p.m. MikeX: I added my slef as global admin a while ago, now I am fiddling with the sharepoint to prepare for an exam

install sql server 2012 on a domain controller

install sql server 2012 on a domain controller

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx#harddiskspace

pay attention to

Setup will not block installation on a computer that is a domain controller, but the following limitations apply:
  • You cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service account.
  • After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain member to a domain controller. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain controller.
  • After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain controller to a domain member. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain member.
  • SQL Server failover cluster instances are not supported where cluster nodes are domain controllers.
  • SQL Server Setup cannot create security groups or provision SQL Server service accounts on a read-only domain controller. In this scenario, Setup will fail.

upgrade windows 8.0 enterprise to version 8.1

upgrade windows 8.0 enterprise to version 8.1

download the full 8.1 ISO from MS website (via a subscription)

it took about 1.5 hours on this slow notebook (x32 bit)

there is a start button, but not the traditional one, right-click on that you can find the much craved shutdown option;

But there is still no program list .... sif.........

ah... well... the next day, I am asked to activate windows ....... that means I have to enter a license key.

so this is not a free upgrade to Enterprise 8.1 edition of windows 8.1?

quote here

If not viewable, it’s likely you need to install the other Windows updates prior to updating the OS. Alternatively, you may be running an edition of Windows 8, such as Windows 8 Enterprise, that doesn’t support the free update from the Store.
