Near Field Communication (NFC)

Google AI answer:

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless technology that allows devices to communicate when they are close together:

Distance: NFC works within a distance of 4 centimeters or less

Speed: NFC offers a low-speed connection

Setup: NFC is simple to set up

NFC has many uses, including:

Contactless payments: NFC is used in contactless payment systems like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay

Data exchange: NFC can be used to exchange digital content

Device connection: NFC can be used to quickly connect wireless devices

Document verification: NFC can be used to scan documents like passports and driver's licenses to verify them

Patient monitoring: NFC-enabled wristbands can be used to track patients' vital signs and transmit them to a doctor's office

Hospital care management: NFC can be used to track patients' locations and what treatments they have received

What is Near Field Communication (NFC) ? - RAYPCB

NFC is a subset of radio-frequency identification (RFID), which has been used for decades for scanning items in shops and tagging luggage.

NFC has two modes of communication: passive and active:

Passive mode

In this mode, an active NFC reader generates a high-frequency field that supplies energy to a passive transponder when it enters the field. The transponder then transmits data by modulating the inquiry signal. This mode is used for contactless payments.

Active mode

In this mode, both the initiator and the target device can transmit NFC signals. The devices generate their own high-frequency fields to transmit data.
