load power BI license (mspartner) to an Office 365 account

load power BI license to an Office 365 account

- its similar to what you load inTune license

- logon to mspartner portal
- click power BI, expand , get the license key
- on the same page, click on a URL link
- the link points to a page of MS logon
- login as O365 account\
- then the power BI license is added to O365

you can do so with other ms cloud licenses

redeem Intune license for an Office 365 partner / tenant account

redeem Intune license for an Office 365 partner / tenant account

if you are mspartner (don't have to be on MSDN), you may be entitled to some free internal licenses.

assuming you already have a O365 company login, how do I load my intune license on this O365 account without having to creating a separate MS intune login,

here is what's need to be done

1/ login to MS partner portal

2/ drill the software license page, like cloud software, click intune, expand to get the key

3/ on the intune license page , there is a link, click on the link, it will take you to a MS  page

4/ on the ms page, on the righ side, click login, enter your O365 login username/password

5/ follow the screen to redeem

6/ now you will have intune licenses under your O365 account

Office 365 exchange online DNS change hiccups ..... chnaged too soon

Office 365 exchange online DNS change hiccups --

I made the final dns change , then I started to configure outlook 1 hours later

outlook 2010 got error , it failed to auto-detect the O365 account, the error is SSL failed-something, re-try.

do nslookup for the autodiscover record, it is not there yet in the local DNS.

server 8.8.8.8 is fine though

eventually found out it took 2.75 hours for the local dns to return correct autodiscover record

home internet bugged for a good few days --- thought it could be a few website slow. then found out the ADSL router only only connects at 1.2Mbps, shiit as I only upgraded to a more expensive plan

recover the fedora VM inside MS vNext hyper-v server

recover the fedora VM inside MS vNext hyper-v server

the day before I shutdown the fedora 21 VM, and in the process , I shut down the hyper-v host as well.

apparently this has caused a crash and problem.///

the problem is the fedora VM disappeared from the VM list, ie, i dont have a Vm to start

tried to import the VM, tried to create a new VM and attached the original vhdx, no luck

the errors are like GUID something, the vhdx is in use....

eventually make a copy of the vhdx file, then created a new VM, attach the disk file, all good

gen1 is fine

one drive for business --- too easy broken

one drive for business made my summer hotter here

I had to bad-mouth it

quite often it keeps running and no progress ....

there is that dreadful 5000 items/folders limit , but it won't tell you,

tried the repair option, no much help either

....

again, another comment on the open with explorer approach

that method makes it easy to move files/folders between libraries

but if you want to do cut / paste, it is copying files to your PC, then upload over the WAN link

Microsoft vNext GUi interface

Microsoft vNext GUi interface

it is like windows 10 tech preview

the metro interface disappeared ( or not default ), pity as I am kind of getting used to the metro

what a kinky twist

right-click on the start button , you see w8.1 like system apps like system

right-click on the start button, you see w7-like program list

install MS vNext tech preview on IBM x3100 M4, from windows 2003 x32 or from server 2012 R2 x64

install MS vNext tech preview on IBM x3100 M4  ....

on this x3100 M4 with a weird cpu grade, vt-x is supported.

earlier, I tried to install vNext on top of windows 2003 x32 bit, no way, I have to write a DVD and boot from scratch

now, with server 2012 R2, no upgrade possible, but it will run from the server2012 itself, but wont keep settings etc

multi-point services is now part of MS vNext

multi-point services is now part of MS vNext

there are much more services in vNext than in server 2012 R2

hyper-v on an IBM x3200 M2 with an E4600 CPU,,,, what a joke

hyper-v on an IBM x3200 M2 with an E4600 dual core CPU

trash ... that cpu doesn't support VT-x

I did install MS vNext on it, but I could not enable hyper-v

then I tried another oldie server IBM x3200 with a Pentium D, no, not all CPU support VT-x

this time, I used a small program did a test -- speccy, it tells me whether the CPU supports or not

time to move on

one drive for business limits & sharepoint online --- 5000 items and onedrive is personal

one drive for business limits & sharepoint online --- 5000 items and onedrive is personal

if you want to share onedrive for business, 5000 items (files and folders) are the limit , the other guy can get from your library using onedrive

in the team site, you can upload 2GB. to upload more without syncing onedrive, your can create a new library under mysite. the libraries under mysite is subject to the 1TB (2TB) limit. the default onedrive is up to 20,000 items. but other libraries under mysite is up to 5000 using onedrive.

( I spent time to get myself with reality, and Microsoft support girl Jan also mention they tested)

To copy files between libraries under mysite. in IE (not firefox), click libraries, click open with explorer. If you have onedrive installed, it may open the local cache.

in a normal server 2012 R2 , I found out I couldb't open it (or something else corrupted or I don't know)

  • You can sync up to 20,000 items in your OneDrive for Business library. This includes folders and files.
  • You can sync up to 5,000 items in a SharePoint library. This includes folders and files. These are the libraries that you find on various SharePoint sites, such as team sites and community sites, libraries that other people created, or that you created from your Sites page. This also includes syncing other people's OneDrive personal sites that you may have access to. You can sync multiple SharePoint libraries.
