deploy n-able based MSP service to a small biz

outgoing ports should be open like 80,443,22

n-able probe and agent like .net 2 ( I should deploy .net 2 via group policy before this). anyway I put dotnetfix on a fileshare, and do the leg work.

I install .net 2 before I install the probe on the server 2003.

the probe is supposed to deploy the agents to the workstations, but it couldn't most of times because .net 2 wasn't installed.

end point security (n-able's version of panda anti-virus) won't install because the sonicwall thinks the upx package is dodgy. luckily I figure this out after their programmer told me he couldn't broswe the internet because there wasn't enuff licenses on the sonicwall. this client has 10 license with TZ 170. what a lime thing, these days still restrict licenses. the new tz 100/200 series is good to get rid of user licenses, the only limit is physical, ie, UTM throughput.

you better manually un-install symantec client and server before you deploy n-able's end point security. although end-point-security agent is sort of able to get rid of their compititiors.

  1. after a few stressful hours, the company's managed services were deployed to this client.

the anti-virus can't be installed on one PC which has 256MB ram. the minimum requirement is 512MB.
