you are prompted for username and password in a workgroup network
windows xp pro as workgroup file server,
w7 pro as client
when I do \\192.168.1.10
I got prompts asking for username/password
eventually find out the clocks are wrong, one hour apart on the workgroup server (need some timezone update after law change?)
the w7 pro date/time is wrong because the owner changed it . he said his LOB software FREEDOM got a bug, so he rolled the clock back.
It is interesting that clock does matter even if its a workgroup enviroment.
