how do i know when my aws free tier expires

You know your AWS Free Tier expires by checking the Billing and Cost Management Console for your account's 12-month activation date, monitoring the "Your AWS Free Tier expires soon" email alerts, or reviewing the AWS Cost Explorer for usage details and credit status. The Free Tier benefits usually end 12 months from your account activation date, after which you'll be billed for any active resources.

Key Methods to Check Expiry
  1. AWS Billing Dashboard (Best Method):
    • Sign in to the AWS Management Console.
    • Navigate to Billing & Cost Management > Cost Analysis > Free Tier.
    • This page shows your usage, remaining credits, and the date your 12-month period ends.
  2. Email Notifications:
    • AWS sends automated emails in the last month of your Free Tier period with the subject line "Your AWS Free Tier expires soon," alerting you to take action.
  3. Account Creation Date:
    • In the Billing Console, find the oldest date in your bill periods; 12 months from that date is your Free Tier end date.
What Happens When It Ends?
  • Pay-as-you-go: You'll automatically be charged standard rates for any services you continue to use.
  • Prevent Charges: Sign in to the console, check the Free Tier page, and terminate any unwanted resources (like EC2 instances, S3 buckets) in all regions to avoid unexpected bills.
