recover windows 8.1 on an old HP laptop --- repair BCD the funny way - and - repair the BSOD the funny way

the old HP  laptop was having weird hardware problems, and last month it had done lost of windows update, then it crashed and burnt big time

the error was horrible .... now its another mission to recover

I tried press F8 to select various boot options like safe , no help


You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media ....

I tried a recovery usb disc of unkown windows version, sadly the usb media suffered the same problem after the fist boot

I knew this old HP notebook had hardware problems like it will BSOD in summer --- over heating, although its winter here right now

on my windows 10 machine , I downloaded windows 10 from Microsoft, created repair media . But it failed to repair the start up problem , the log file stated wrong version

StorageCraft's shadow protect RE disc come to rescue, run the BCD repair tool ....
the machine booted to BSOD . press F8 .... choose safe mode

interestingly, the machine booted to the full mode ....

shut down the machine , start again, it is working now until next time ....

can't believe what happened
