updated windows, not much luck. ..
remove sav9 and install MS security essentials, no luck
disabled all pluggins, no luck ....
the start menu is very slow to expand ...
eventually it is found out that a shortcut is pointing to a previous intranet website which is now remove.
remove this shortcut from desktop and the start-menu, everything is all good again,.
